Brexton's House
/Just this morning I was meditating on the beauty that comes after the storm. Like the radiance of the sun, the glistening of the flowers, the rainbow that spreads across the sky. Storms are hard and costly. But if you are like me and you've walked through a tumultuous storm in your own life, then you know personally the beauty that comes afterward. Like the character that is deposited so deeply, you'll never be the same person again. Or the unwavering hope and faith that goes beyond wishful thinking and has become solidified as joyful anticipation of God continuing to do good on your behalf!
Our family has been through a tremendous storm and now we are seeing some of the beauty after the storm. Brexton's House is like a massive rainbow in our lives that is spreading hope and love across the skies of our heart. Two years ago after Brexton died in the midst of our deepest pain we heard God whisper, "build Brexton's House." At the time we had no idea the impact it would have on our own journey of grief and healing. We also had no idea that the Lord would bring it to fruition so quickly.
After Brexton died the Lord continually had me going back to John 12:24 "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But it’s death will produce many new kernels, a plentiful harvest of new lives." The fact that death in fact, brings forth life is hard on my heart at times because that death for me personally was my only son. But I'm also so grateful that Brexton's death and early departure from this earth can be a seed that brings forth a plentiful harvest of new life!
The physical foundation for Brexton's House will soon be poured and along with it a spiritual foundation that will stand long past any of us can comprehend. A foundation of prayers for a little boy to be completely healed on earth that will now be part of healing for an entire village of young Zambian children. A foundation of hope that covered a young boy's difficult life that will now spread across the seas from Texas to Africa. A foundation of Jesus that was in fact, the anchor for our souls during many turbulent waters that will now anchor these children in Him to one day change their entire nation.
This is Brexton's House. This is Hope. This is Jesus bringing life from death!
